When will my employee(s) be registered after I sign them up for the online courses? 

You (or your employees) will be registered within 24-48 business hours.

How does online registration work? 

After payment is received, you (or your employees) will receive an email with login information.

Are the courses accredited for social workers and other mental health professionals?

Yes!  Deer Path Academy is an ACE-approved provider (Association for Social Work Boards) and an ACEP-approved provider (National Board for Certified Counselors).  Click here for more information.

Oh, no!  I can't view the course material.  What's wrong?

The course portal works best with Google Chrome. While other browsers are acceptable, please do not use Internet Explorer; it is not compatible with our learning management system. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. You can also try to clear your browser's cookies and cache.

Are online courses self-paced?  

Yes, the employees work at their own pace.

May I purchase a single course for multiple employees who work together?  

No, you must purchase a course for each employee/learner for whom you wish to receive a certificate.

Do I get a certificate of completion?

Yes, once you have completed the entire course, including passing the final exam and the course review, a certificate of completion will be available for you to download and print as a PDF in your course portal.

What are the online Course Packs? 

The CBRF Course Pack is all-inclusive and includes seven courses required to work in a CBRF (both all-employee and task-specific training).  The AFH Course Pack is all-inclusive and includes eight courses needed to work in an Adult Family Home (a total of 17 hours).  You receive the Course Packs for $50 less than the total of all courses separately.

I just purchased training, but I realized I don't need it.  May I get a refund?

We understand that things happen.  As long as you haven't logged in yet, yes, of course. However, because we are charged fees for credit card use, your refund will be the full amount minus 5% to cover the fees we incurred during the transaction.

Do you offer discounts beyond the Course Pack and Super Pack?

Yes!  For facilities planning to purchase in bulk or to train many employees, we offer significant discounts tailored to the learner/company.  Please email us your request, and we will provide a quote.

Do online courses meet DHS requirements for assisted living regulations?

Yes! The online courses for the CBRF all-employee and task-specific training meet the requirements, and the Adult Family Home online courses do as well (note: adult family home employees are not required to be listed on the registry).

Are online courses eligible for the DHS registry?

The online courses meet the DHS training requirements; however, they will not grant you or your employees access to the CBRF registry. To be listed on the registry for the four registry-required courses, you must complete the in-person (i.e., face-to-face) courses. Please contact us if your organization is interested in on-site or live virtual training.

What is this program?

This program consists of 13 online courses that can potentially lead to certification as a Certified Behavior Support Professional (C-BSP) granted through Deer Path Academy.  Considering this is a pilot program (one we are testing before the literal and professional launch), you have the privilege of making it better and more well-rounded by providing feedback and suggestions.  Essentially, you are first in line to test the waters of this fantastic opportunity!  With that said, this is a work in progress, and we appreciate your willingness and excitement to participate.

How much does this program cost?

At this time, the program is free of charge thanks to a grant from DHS.

How does it work?

The learner will receive an email shortly after registering, with instructions to log in to their custom portal and program.  

How long do I have to complete the program?

Upon receiving their login email, learners will have six (6) months to complete the program.  After 180 days, the classes in the learner's portal will become inactive.  After successfully completing all online courses, the learner will be directed to a detailed feedback survey regarding the program/courses.  After completing the online courses, learners can apply for the C-BSP certification/designation, which includes a certification exam and case study.

What is a Behavior Support Professional's role?

The role of a Behavior Support Professional includes helping adults manage their mental health and supporting them in their recovery. You can provide quality care for an underserved community.  With a C-BSP, you have the potential to work in residential settings, such as a CBRF and Adult Family Home that serves residents with mental illness and substance use disorders.

Is Deer Path Academy Accredited?

Currently, DPA is not connected to state or national boards for the C-BSP. DPA received HCBS funding to create this program, recognizing the needs of the individuals served. 

Do you come to our facility?

Yes!  We travel all over Wisconsin, training caregivers in Community-Based Residential Facilities and Adult Family Homes. We are dedicated to providing you with quality services and the needed training to work in assisted living.

Does it cost extra for you to travel to our facility?

Counties over 60 miles one-way incur a small mileage fee.

Is there a minimum number of employees/learners needed to enroll?

A minimum of 4 participants is required for Juneau County and Monroe County facilities, and a minimum of 6 participants is required for all other counties in Wisconsin.

Do you offer this training virtually?

Yes!  We are authorized to offer the CBRF training virtually, including Fire Safety, Standard Precautions, First Aid & Conscious Choking, and Medication Administration & Management.  

What happens after training?

Participants who pass the course and meet the requirements will be added to the registry. Please contact us for more information about getting your employees trained virtually!

Are there discounts?

Yes!  Juneau County and Monroe County facilities receive a 10% discount for six or more participants and 20% for 10 or more participants.  All other counties (within 100 miles) receive a 10% discount for 12 or more participants.  In addition, if you train your employees in all four courses through Deer Path Academy, you will save $50 per employee.
